Hello RecipeRelay Readers!

We hope that 2011 has been treating you well so far – even if you recently found yourself under a few feet of snow!  If January is any indication, this is going to be a great year for RecipeRelay.  We have had several exciting developments and are looking forward to many more throughout the year.  In early January we were fortunate to be featured on Food + Tech Connect, an excellent blog by social alchemist Danielle Gould exploring the intersection of food and information technology.  If you haven’t had a chance to read it yet, check out the interview here.  We had another interview last week on the Good Food Jobs’ Gastrognomes blog.  Good Food Jobs, the brainchild of Taylor Cocalis and Dorothy Neagle, is a fabulous gastro-job search tool that helps job seekers find meaningful work in the food sector.  Thanks to both of these amazing sites for bringing us into their vibrant communities.

At the beginning of the year we said we wanted to have at least one guest cook each month.  Well, we put the word out and we got an overwhelming response – we had so many people ready to contribute that we had to remind ourselves to save some spots on the calendar for us.  We will both still be relaying, although not as often.  We’ve got an exciting line-up of contributors from Michigan, Illinois, New Jersey, California and even Barcelona, Spain.  This week, Stephanie Tickner will be relaying from snowy New Hampshire!

We are so excited to watch how the Relay evolves as it passes through new places and new hands.  Make sure you check in every week to keep up, we may be in your town before you know it!  If you are interested in being a contributor to RecipeRelay, check out our Submission Sample Guidelines page.  Send us writing and photo samples and you may see yourself on the Relay very soon!

Finally, we are continuing to develop RecipeRelay so that it can become THE PLACE for seasonal recipes and local food online.  We realized we’re going to need help!  We are currently taking applications for a Research and Social Media Intern – check out the job listing on Good Food Jobs.  If you or someone you know might be interested please send a resume to the email provided in the job description.  Don’t forget to send us any comments or suggestions you have by filling out the contact form on our Contact page – we are always eager to hear from our readers.
